Say what you\nwill about the Taliban, those guys keep a low carbon footprint.  The West might even be able to learn a thing\nor two that could help us fight climate change. \nThat is, if we could only set aside our judgmental attitude toward their\nsavagery for a moment and keep an open mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personal\nCare<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Have you ever seen a Taliban member use any personal skincare or haircare products?\u00a0 Do you have any idea how many petroleum products that are required to produce, transport and market these \u201cessentials?\u201d\u00a0 Not only that, but most combs and brushes are made almost entirely from petroleum products.\u00a0 When is the last time you have EVER even seen a Taliban fighter use a comb?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Law Enforcement<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Taliban draws\na wickedly sharp line on following Sharia Law. \nStep out of line for a moment and Whack! \nThey\u2019ll knock you into tomorrow.  And\nwhat do Taliban enforcers use? Canes, whips and rocks, that\u2019s what.  Talk about an uncompromising commitment to sustainability.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transportation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do Taliban fighters drive around in gas-guzzling Humvees?\u00a0 Of course, not!\u00a0 Taliban fighters drive fuel-efficient Tacoma pickups.\u00a0 And, they ride eight or nine to a truck!\u00a0 Now, that\u2019s an HOV lane culture!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps if\nwe weren\u2019t so ethnocentric, we could open our minds and learn a little\nsomething from these backwards, heartless barbarians.  Maybe, we need to \u201cslow our roll\u201d and stop\nbeing so quick to superimpose OUR cultural values on them.  What makes OUR culture so much better?  Treating women as human beings?  Requiring due process?  Not referring to our leaders as \u201cWarlords?\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next time you run into a member of the Taliban, perhaps you should take a moment to thank him and apologize for your cultural prejudice.\u00a0 But do it quick, before he pulls out his cane.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
