Bill Burr is a tremendously talented stand-up comedian and actor.\u00a0 He makes his living communicating.\u00a0 You may recall your seventh grade English teacher telling you that effective communication requires using the precise word to express your thought.\u00a0 Bill Burr understands this better than anyone.\u00a0 He is, in essence, a wordsmith.\u00a0 As it turns out, Bill has decided that the most accurate word, in almost every instance, is the \u201cF-word.”\u00a0 He uses it in every sentence.\u00a0 Okay, maybe not once in every<\/em> sentence.\u00a0 I\u2019m just joshing you.\u00a0 He uses it three<\/em> times in every sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to official FCC regulations, I am required to use a substitute for the F-word for the rest of this column.\u00a0 Hereinafter, I will replace the \u201cF-word” with \u201cIntimate Personal Interaction.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many teenagers constantly insert the word \u201clike\u201d into everything they say.\u00a0 Example #1: \u201cLike<\/em>, I was just walking down the sidewalk writing a text, and like<\/em> I banged my head on a light pole.\u201d\u00a0 Example #2: \u201cLike<\/em>, that REALLY hurt!\u201d\u00a0 Example #3 (and, sadly, perhaps the most accurate): \u201cLike,<\/em> I can\u2019t even explain it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bill does\nthe same thing, only he uses \u201cIntimate Personal Interaction.\u201d  Example #1: \u201cIntimate Personal Interaction<\/em>, I was just walking down the Intimate Personal Interaction<\/em> street\nwriting a Intimate Personal Interaction<\/em>\ntext, and I Intimate Personal Interaction<\/em>\nbanged my Intimate Personal Interaction<\/em>\nhead on an Intimate Personal Interaction<\/em>\nlight pole.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve thought about emailing Bill and telling him that he is one of the funniest comedians on the planet, but for goodness sakes, stop saying Intimate Personal Interaction<\/em> so much. \u00a0But here is the problem, it is practically his signature.\u00a0 In fact, many people who write to him for advice (which emails he reads and answers on his podcast) close by saying, \u201cThank you, and go Intimate Personal Interaction <\/em>yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would love to recommend Bill’s podcast to others, but I can\u2019t.\u00a0 There\u2019s just too much Intimate Personal Interaction<\/em> going on.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is\nwhere the Guinness World Records Book enters the picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is no doubt in my mind that Bill has a higher Intimate-Personal-Interaction<\/em>-Per-Minute count, than any other standup comedian, living or deceased.\u00a0 No one even comes Intimate Personal Interaction<\/em> close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, for these reasons, I, Jack Edwards, hereby nominate the Honorable Bill Burr to the Guinness Book of World Records.\u00a0 If anyone deserves such an honor, Bill Intimate Personal Interaction<\/em> does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
