A plague looms over us.\u00a0 A plague so ominous it threatens our very way of life.\u00a0 A life-threatening plague.\u00a0 I am, of course, speaking about the invasion of the Murder Hornets.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I survived the\nlast media-inspired killer insect scare back in the 1970s – the \u201cKiller Bees.\u201d  As a veteran of the Killer Bee Hysteria, I have\nsome advice \u2013 \u201cChill-acks.\u201d  Back in the\n70s, the Killer Bees got the media\u2019s panties in a bunch.  In the end, however, the threat had as much\nfizzle as a day-old soda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Murder\nhornets aside, if you been paying close attention to the news, you may have also\nnoticed a little something called the coronavirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everybody\u2019s now\nwondering what the \u201cnew normal\u201d will look like. \nI don\u2019t know, but I\u2019m fairly sure it\u2019s going to involve wearing a lot of\npajamas.  Media tagline: \u201cPajamas \u2013 the\nnew business casual.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve been trying\nto maintain a semblance of my old routine. \nIt\u2019s difficult, what with having to get up each morning and eat a quart\nof ice cream before pondering how many days it\u2019s been since I showered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This leads\nme to an extremely sensitive subject.  As\ndifficult as it is, it\u2019s probably something I should confess to you.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our society\nhas a set of well-understood rules.  These\nrules are vital to our maintaining a sense of order.  Many of these rules draw clear and distinct lines\nwe should never <\/em>cross.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is my\nconfession (insert drumroll) \u2013 I crossed one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last\nSaturday, I wore my pajamas to the bank. \nYeah, I know!<\/em>  In my\ndefense, I forgot I was wearing pajamas until I was getting into my car.  I paused for a moment and considered going\nback into the house to change.  But, I\nrationalized, I was only going to be using the drive thru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Driving away\nfrom the bank, I\u2019m not going to lie to you, I experienced a moment of deep self-reflection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking of\nmoments, the lockdown has left me with quite a few extra moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve spent\nsome of those extra moments on Twitter.  A\nnew follower\u2019s profile says he\u2019s from Thunder Bay, Ontario.  When I saw this, I thought to myself, why\ncan\u2019t I be from someplace cool sounding like Thunder Bay?  The name Thunder Bay evokes a sense of\nadventure and an exciting mystic.  Then I\nthought to myself, wait a minute, maybe there is<\/em> something I can do about\nthis.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I continued tapping around on Twitter, and I came upon a guy announcing that he was planning to cook some ramps for lunch.\u00a0 Ramps?\u00a0 The only ramps I\u2019ve ever come across are boat ramps.\u00a0 Then again, I am from Alsea.\u00a0 Well, I should say I was<\/em> from Alsea. \u00a0Check my Twitter profile. Now<\/em>, I\u2019m from Thunder Bay<\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
