Many average\nAmericans, perhaps you, are confused about the GameStop financial scandal.  You may be asking, \u2018What does this all mean?\u2019\nAnd, \u2018Will it affect me and my family\u2019s financial stability?\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The short\nanswers to these important questions are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Number\n1.  It\u2019s complicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Number\n2.  Yes, it means certain financial devastation\nfor you and your family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just\nkidding!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is<\/em>\ncomplicated, but with a brief lesson on US security law, you should have a\nsolid handle on it in no time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, you\nneed to understand some of the fancy Wall Street terminology.  Here are the two most important words you\nneed to know:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShort\nSelling.\u201d  Short selling sounds really\ncomplicated, but it isn\u2019t at all.  Short\nselling is when anyone under 5 feet, 5 inches tall, sells something.  For example, I\u2019m 5 feet, ten inches.  So, while I can buy, and I can sell, I cannot\n\u201cshort sell.\u201d  On the other hand, my wife\nJulie, is an expert at short selling (but mostly, at short buying).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHedge fund.\u201d\u00a0 A hedge fund is a sophisticated group of investors who pool their financial resources to create a \u201cmonetary fund\u201d with which to invest and amass even greater wealth by purchasing and maintaining tall, and very impressive, lawn hedges.\u00a0 I have often considered participating in a hedge fund, but since it requires climbing up tall ladders with an electric trimmer, I\u2019m afraid that by the end of my first day, I would qualify as a \u201cshort seller.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The important thing for you, the average American, to remember, is that while it may appear<\/em> that your political representatives in Washington DC are spending all their time bloviating about how hard they\u2019re working for you (i.e., scarfing down expensive steak dinners with fat cat lobbyists), they are actually laser focused<\/em> on making sure that Wall Street works to create a steady and secure stream of revenue for our society’s most vulnerable and important members \u00a0\u0336 themselves.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
